If you play ASTRONEER, in this guide you will find how to start your mission, find shells, prepare your terrariums and take care of your new pets.
The mission of the Galastropods ASTRONEER
To get started:
- Go to your quest log and start the "Bait and Switch" quest, which requires you to collect 3 Sphalerite.
- Once you complete the quest, you will be given a "strange item". Plant this item on the ground of your base.
NOTICENote: When you unpack it, there will be junk around you, so you may want to place it a bit away from other items. - Unbox the item and it becomes your xenobiology lab.
- Install the provided oxygenator.
- Turn on your lab (I used an RTG).
- Use the data log to activate the Xenobiology Lab's tracker.
Xenobiology Laboratory
There will be various quests as you progress through the use of the lab (demonstrating more power, though you won't need to if you use an RTG, and giving you three EXO chips).
You will also need to add your galasteropods in the scanner after obtaining them as part of finishing the quest. This will unlock more. As these quests are very simple, I will not tackle them further.
Advantages: illuminates an area
Favorite food: Mutant Hissbine Seed (makes buff last longer than other seeds)
To get Sylvie, you must first get a terrarium for them.
You will need to scan five shells that can be located in the forest areas of Sylva.
Once you've scanned five shells, head back to your landing pad and completing the quest through the log will net you an empty terrarium and a small horn.
Now you must prepare your terrarium for Sylvie. You will need to:
- a container of earth
- Zinc
- bounce seed
Once you place all three items, the terrarium will transform into a small biome for Sylvie. Place the speaker and a song will play that will make Sylvie appear.
Personally, I always started the process at my base, but you decide.
Dance once for Sylvie. They will be happy and then they will dig, they will disappear and then they will reappear on the map. They are easy to find at first, but later planets will make you go further away (especially on Glacio and Atrox). Use your compass to locate them:
Dance three times for Sylvie and then they will wait and sing. Place the terrarium next to them, hover over it and hold the activation key (F on a PC keyboard, for example) to "befriend" which will put Sylvie in the terrarium. If you haven't removed the speaker first, it will be ejected.
Advantage: Mark certain nearby curiosities on the compass
Favorite food: Mutant Hissbine Seed
Shells for Usagi can be found in the lower ground areas on the surface of Desolo and look like this:
After scanning all five shells and collecting the empty terrarium, you will need:
- a container of earth
- Tungsten
- dagger seed
Usagi requires three dances to tame.
Advantage: Passively produces oxygen that fills tanks and connection networks.
Favorite food: Mutant Spiny Attactus Seed, Mutant Volatile Attactus Seed
Shells for Stilgar can be found underground, attached to stalagmites:
After scanning all five shells and collecting the empty terrarium, you will need:
- a container of earth
- Copper
- wheezing grass seed
Stilgar requires three dances to tame.
Advantage: While carried in the backpack, prevents todas forms of damage other than suffocation.
Favorite food: Mutant Cataplant Seed
Shells for Princess, like in Sylva, can be found lying on the ground in forests. The forests of Vesania are on top of the mountains:
After scanning all five shells and collecting the empty terrarium, you will need:
- a container of earth
- Lithium
- eyelash leaf seed
The princess requires three dances to tame.
Advantage: Generates power.
Favorite food: Mutant Noxious/Volatile Cataplant Seed
The shells for Rogal are found underground and found in "Crumbling Stones" that you "open" by holding down the activation key (F on a PC keyboard):
When you mine the rock, you will receive a shell and a resource (clay or quartz):
After scanning all five shells and collecting the empty terrarium, you will need:
- a container of earth
- Iron
- whip thistle seed
Rogal requires three dances to tame.
Advantage– While attached to the Terrain Tool, it improves its width, momentum, and drilling ability.
Favorite food: Mutant Boomalloon Seed
The shells for Bestefar are found underground in chunks of ice.
You must use dynamite to destroy the ice chunks. You can dig them up and move them, put several together and make them explode todyou at the same time. Each one will give you a shell and a resource (quartz or hematite).
After scanning all five shells and collecting the empty terrarium, you will need:
- a container of earth
- Argon
- coral popcorn seed
Bestefar requires four dances to tame.
Advantage: While carried in a backpack, increases jump height, sprint speed, and reduces the movement penalty for carrying heavy items.
Favorite food: Mutant Noxious Grass Flower Seeds and Mutant Elegant Grass Flower Seeds
Shells for Enoki are found inside Spewflowers at higher elevations. Use your compass, which will mark the flowers with a brown shell icon:
It is VERY useful to bring a fed princess with you on this mission to protect you from todas dangerous plants. Tear off the vomiflora to obtain a shell.
After scanning all five shells and collecting the empty terrarium, you will need:
- a container of earth
- Helio
- seed of ispinela
Enoki requires four dances to tame.
They'll sing a song for you, and then you're done.
Collect their rewards: RTGs, 2 mini-RTGs, and a lab suit:
You have already completed the missions and you have your new pets!
