Fans of retro platform based action games will be glad to know that Kraino Origins, developed by Angel Dorantes, has been released on iOS. Dating back to the days of the NES, this 2D side-scrolling game puts you in the shoes of a shadowy-looking character who must explore the world wielding a huge scythe, fighting various demons and monsters to defeat each boss.
Kraino Origins wears its inspirations on its sleeve, making anyone who sees it immediately think of old-school titles like Castlevania o Ghouls 'N Goblins. The game is played from a 2D perspective, and each of the challenging levels is packed with platforming challenges made even more difficult by the presence of various enemies trying to block your progress.
As usual in this type of game, you will unlock different improvements that will make your progression easier, such as air jumps or more powerful attacks. The general atmosphere of Krainor it's creepy, but it's also bastself-aware and often his designs are bastbefore cartoonish.
To make this atmosphere even more nostalgic, there are also plenty of retro graphic filters that you can use. These can cause your screen to take on a greenish haze like in old arcade games. Gameboy or styles of pixel art that look something like Shovel Knight, and a bunch of others too.
If you want to experience an old-fashioned platform action adventure, or just like the retro vibes of these types of games, Kraino Origins it may be your next favourite.
