Tips and tricks guide for beginners The Planet Crafter

Tip #1
I usually ignore oxygen tanks, because I consider them a waste of cobalt, they only really help if you like to play it safe and even then I usually only have 1 oxygen tank with me, no backups. The big reason I don't really care about oxygen tanks will be explained in Tip 2.

Tip #2
This is very easy, very basic, but it helps a lot. Whenever you plan to go out on a scouting mission. Take 4 iron, 1 silicon, and 2 titanium. Why? I can hear you ask. Well, you can build a base, a habitable compartment, and then a door for easy access to oxygen.

Essentially, this creates a small outpost building that you can quickly enter to get your oxygen back. Additionally, you can gather iron nearby and build storage inside so you can gather materials from an area, store them at your outpost, and then easily transport them. This basically overrides the oxygen game mechanic so you never have to worry about oxygen again once you set up a network of outposts.

Tip #3
Grab free items first when exploring. What are 'free objects' you might ask? They are items that are not stored anywhere within the shattered areas. Take, for example, seeds. The battleship in the desert has a lot of seeds on board, however, most will end up ignoring them and go straight to the good stuff like alloys and data chips, thinking they'll be able to collect those seeds later... Well, here's some bad news, those free items disappear. (The timer doesn't start until you get close to the actual wreckage)

Once you approach the wreckage, your goal is to gather todor whatever isn't sealed inside a quick storage box! In the prologue I made the mistake of not collecting said seeds on the battleship and when I tried to return later for them, todaces had disappeared, leaving me with about 5 different food seeds and 7 different plant seeds for my run. Always collect your free items as quickly as possible. Combine this with tip #2 and store free items inside your small outpost bases scattered around the map so you can transport it back to the main base when you're ready to return.

Tip #4
This is really just an explanation. The mineral extractor extracts minerals from its location. So if you want aluminum, build it in an area that has aluminum. Tier 2 ore extractors are the only ones that can mine things like osmium, sulfur, iridium, etc.

Tip #5
Food and water… Those are the only two things you have to worry about if you've been doing outposts.

Now, this shouldn't surprise you, but cultivators and water collector are your best friends and should definitely have priority in building.

You can usually get by with 2 growers (one making beans and the other doing anything else). However, this means you have to micromanage your food, so if you just want to grow a lot of food without worry, go strictly with 4 farmers per food. You want about 10 more cultivators after that…why? (4 for eggplants, 4 for pumpkins, 2 for mushrooms) You'll need these plants for high-tech stuff later on.

The water is bastante easy once you get a water collector, however I recommend 2x to start and when you can get water from the lakes, you will want to immediately replace your 2 water collectors with lake water collectors. Your water problems will be more than controlled. Then, as soon as you can, you build the water purifier, and you will never need to carry water again, because it can drink directly from any lake.
