Katamari Damacy REROLL Complete collectibles guide

Hello, my name is pimittens and I currently hold the world record for both full collection speedrun categories at katamari damacy reroll and also the world records for the full collection category in katamary damacy (ps2) and we love katamari (my speedrun profile for reference). I am making this guide because while there is already a guide for Steam for the entire collection, leave out a wealth of useful resources and information.

Overview and useful information

There are 1438 unique items in the game that need to be collected. Once the collection is complete, going to the collection screen will result in the king giving the prince 5 balloons instead of one.

In order for the items you have collected during a level to be saved in your collection, you must reach the target size of the level before exiting. no need to wait for the timer to run out; Once you reach the target size, you can exit the level from the pause screen. the exception to this are constellation levels, which will be discussed later.

Fun Fact- On the ps2 version, it was necessary to collect specific instances of objects to complete the "names" section. on replay they removed this for some reason and choosing any object from the same category as the named object will suffice, so naturally you will complete the section by completing the collection.

Information about the spreadsheet: This sheet was made by me with the help of my fellow katamari speedrunners martini and grass. It was created specifically for the full collection speedrun category, which means that some of the information may be difficult for casual gamers to understand. The "best time to collect" column can basically be ignored, as the purpose of this column was to decide which level was ideal for lifting the item on the speedrun. The term "any%" means the speedrun category in which you complete the game as quickly as possible since we have to play the any% route in the July levels, the speedrun objects that we collect during these routes are marked as " in any% route "or as" unmissable ". Such items are likely to be easy to find and I will provide more resources for locating them later in the guide.

abbreviations:

"More" means "to make a star" (the main levels of the game)
"Mtm" means "make the moon" (the final level of the game)

This section will cover levels outside of the main levels (mas / mtm).

Constellations

In constellation levels, instead of a target size, there is a target number of constellation items that you must collect to finish the level. These objectives are the following:

• Cancer - 10 crabs
• Cygnus - 30 swans
• Pisces - 60 fish
• Corona borealis: 20 crowns
• Virgo - 80 maidens
• Gemini: 22 pairs of twins (2 identical or similar objects count as 1 twin)

In constellation levels, you cannot exit the level early and must wait for the timer to expire. I have created a mod that removes this restriction by keeping the requirements of the object target being used in a separate full collection category (1438 rba objects) to make a more interesting speedrun as there are no longer autoscrollers. If you want to download the instructions for this mod and a download link, it can be found in the discord katamari speedrunning (link at the end of the guide). If you don't use the mod, make sure you don't exit these levels early.

Cow / Bear

These levels are infamous because the level ends as soon as you collect a cow or a bear respectively. In the speedrun we only get the objects in these levels that cannot be found in any other level with a couple of small exceptions. The best way to learn how to play these levels is to watch a video, so check out the video section for this. There is only one bear (kintaro bear) that is exclusive to the bear level, but there are 5 cow items that are only available in the cow level, so you will have to play it multiple times.

Polaris / North Star

This tier does not have any items that are not available elsewhere than the cousin (the cousins ​​have yet to be discussed and will be in a later section). You can finish the level once you reach 5m. The giant watermelons in the farm area are 4m76cm2mm, so once you are big enough to collect them, collecting some of them will take you 5m and allow you to finish the level. Note that to exit the level you must press x to tell the king that you are ready, exiting the pause screen will not work.

Eternal

There are three eternal levels in the game that are essentially copies of the corresponding levels (mas4, mas8, and mtm) and have no time limit. These levels have no objective, so you can exit at any time and the items you have collected will be saved. To unlock these levels, you must have completed mtm in your save file and reached a certain size in each of the applicable levels. these sizes are:

• mas4 - 1m30cm
• more8 - 25m
• mtm - 800m

You will also know that you have reached the required size when you see angels that look like the prince surrounding your katamari.

Each level in the game has a prince's cousin (two in Gemini) that can be collected, but these cousins ​​must first be unlocked before they appear in the levels. To unlock them, you must first complete mtm on their file at least once. Additionally, you must complete the level you want to prime at least once. this means you will have to play todthe levels at least twice to get todthe cousins. The exception is the eternal levels, where cousins ​​will appear the first time you play them.

This folder contains images of todos in-game objects in case you need to know what something looks like. The original collection of images was compiled by a Twitter account called @KatamariItems.
Since the images were originally named "item 1", "item 2", etc., I renamed them with the actual names of the objects so they can be easily searched.
